From DEV bench to center stage -- build the future of streaming.
At BIG BLUE MARBLE, we enable easy access to broadcast content in Austria while driving innovation and customer service in media delivery. Our mission is to actively shape the digital future of TV and radio. To lead our Innovation & Research LAB -- publicly known as BIG BLUE MARBLE Labs (labs.bigbluemarble.com) -- at ORS comm GmbH & Co KG, we are looking for a:
Program Lead, BIG BLUE MARBLE Labs, all genders
Are you a developer at heart who's ready for the next chapter -- one where you spend less time in the IDE and more time shaping which technologies your company bets on next? Do you want to turn prototypes into real business impact, represent your company on international stages, and build the innovation ecosystem of a streaming platform from the ground up? If you have a technical background and the ambition to grow into a coordinating, outward-facing leadership role, BIG BLUE MARBLE Labs is where you belong.
Your responsibilities:
Innovation Scouting
Innovation is not an end in itself for us. We want to understand early which technologies will shape the streaming world of tomorrow -- and which of them are actually relevant for our platform and our customers.
- You scout new technologies, solutions, start-ups, and trends in the streaming and media-tech space.
- You analyze technological developments and assess their relevance and potential applications for our products.
- You attend industry conferences, trade fairs, and events at home and abroad, build a relevant network, and bring fresh impulses into the company.
- You work closely with our Innovation Management and Professional Services team to move promising technologies from first assessment through to potential Proofs of Concept.
- You translate your findings into clear, digestible formats and share your knowledge internally and externally -- through technical blog posts, presentations, or trend and technology analyses.
- AI and automation are a permanent part of your technology radar -- always with an eye on concrete use cases in the streaming and platform environment.
Innovation Lab & Proof of Concept Program
- You lead the operational activities of BIG BLUE MARBLE Labs and coordinate its day-to-day innovation processes.
- You organize and facilitate our bi-weekly Proof of Concept (PoC) sprints together with our Full Stack Development team.
- Together with Product Management, you evaluate ideas entering the innovation funnel, prioritize opportunities, and initiate new PoCs.
- You coordinate PoCs from idea validation to successful completion, ensuring transparency, alignment, and effective collaboration across technical and business teams.
- You make sure PoC outcomes are properly documented and turned into reusable knowledge, technical assets, or follow-up initiatives.
- You continuously improve our Lab processes, fostering an agile, execution-oriented innovation culture.
Innovation Ecosystem & Strategic Partnerships
- You represent BIG BLUE MARBLE Labs nationally and internationally within the innovation ecosystem -- universities, research institutions, public organizations, start-ups, and technology partners.
- You act as a key contact for strategic collaborations and help identify opportunities for joint innovation and research initiatives.
- You represent BIG BLUE MARBLE at conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and industry events, expanding our professional network and visibility.
- You contribute to strategic initiatives across the organization, supporting new partnerships and innovation opportunities.
Knowledge Transfer & Innovation Communication
- You ensure innovation outcomes are communicated effectively, internally and externally.
- You support the creation of technical blogs, conference papers, exhibition contributions, presentations, and other dissemination formats.
- You prepare management-ready summaries, technology assessments, and recommendations based on PoC results and emerging technology trends.
- You promote knowledge sharing across teams and help translate innovation into long-term business value.
Your background:
- A technical foundation, not necessarily a management CV. You have worked as a (Full Stack) Software Developer, Engineer, or in a comparable hands-on technical role -- and you understand modern software development, cloud technologies, and digital platforms from the inside.
- A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a comparable technical discipline -- helpful for writing well-founded technical papers and conference contributions. Equivalent professional experience is welcome in place of a formal degree.
- A genuine wish to change direction: you're ready to trade day-to-day coding for coordinating people, representing the company externally, and shaping innovation strategy. Prior exposure to project or product coordination is a plus, not a requirement.
- Streaming and broadcast media know-how is very welcome -- but if you bring strong technical fundamentals, we're confident you can build this knowledge quickly on the job.
- You're comfortable presenting, networking, and representing BIG BLUE MARBLE confidently in front of external audiences -- at conferences, workshops, and partner meetings.
- You enjoy structuring ambiguous, early-stage ideas, coordinating people across disciplines, and turning promising concepts into tangible outcomes.
- Experience contributing to technical blogs, conference papers, white papers, or presentations is a strong asset.
- Comfortable working in agile environments and facilitating sprint-based collaboration.
- Experience with universities, research institutions, start-ups, or technology partners is a plus.
- Fluent English (C1/C2) and German (minimum B2) are required.
