Research Assistant (f/m/d) for the project "AI-Based Dementia Diagnostics" / Klinik für Psychosomatische Medizin und Psychotherapie

To support a research and implementation project in the field of AI-based diagnostics in neurodegenerative diseases, we are seeking a Research Assistant (f/m/d), preferably full-time (40 hours/week), starting as soon as possible. The position is limited to two years (30.06.2028). Remuneration is according to TV-L (EG 13).

The project will support the evaluation and optimization of a research software platform that assesses Alzheimer's disease risk using neuroimaging data within a standardized, regulatory-compliant framework. The work will focus on establishing harmonized metadata management, robust calibration procedures, automated quality control, secure data handling, and seamless integration into hospital IT systems. Additionally, the project includes clinical evaluations in real-world settings to generate evidence of diagnostic accuracy, usability, and clinical efficacy for regulatory approval.

Your responsibilities will include supporting the data curation and implementation of the research software platform at the Rostock University Medical Centre, including:

• Definition, coordination, and management of standardized clinical and imaging metadata for AI-supported Alzheimer's risk assessment
• Support for regulatory approval, data anonymization workflows and secure data-sharing procedures for clinical and imaging data
• Coordination of data preparation, curation, and quality control processes for MRI and biomarker datasets
• Documentation and management of data-related processes to support performance evaluation, clinical usability assessment, and evidence generation for regulatory approval
• Close collaboration with clinical experts, researchers, IT stakeholders, and external project partners 

• A degree in data science, medical informatics, computer science, or comparable professional training (e.g. medical IT specialist)
• Experience in clinical data management, metadata curation, or medical data stewardship with at least two years of practical experience in a hospital or research setting
• Proficiency in software architectures and scientific programming languages (e.g. Python, R)
• Knowledge of modern container frameworks (e.g. Docker), data formats (e.g. JSON, XML), and medical exchange standards (e.g. HL7 FHIR, IHE SNOMED CT, DICOM)
• Structured working style, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills
• Good knowledge of the German language and business fluent English language
