Team Lead Underwriting Engineering (m/f/d)

Job Description

  • Technical deputy to the Head of Engineering.
  • Representing the Head of Engineering at meetings such as BPM.
  • International UW Meeting etc.
  • Taking on organizational tasks such as file reviews, preparing reports and evaluations, etc.
  • Profit-orientated underwriting within the framework of the divisional guidelines and powers of attorney, in particular.
  • Development of new and expansion of existing customer relationships.
  • Risk analysis, calculation of the required premium and preparation and negotiation of quotations.
  • Review and negotiation of contract texts (wordings).
  • Acceptance of applications and preparation of documentation.
  • Participation in annual meetings and customer visits.
  • Preparation and coordination of the underwriting decision (outside the underwriting authorization).
  • Portfolio monitoring with regard to economic requirements.
  • Participation in intra-divisional and cross-divisional acquisition planning and measures.
  • Support for existing customer relationships, brokers and company affiliated intermediaries.
  • Creation of coverage concepts and implementation of international insurance programs as a leading insurer.
  • Helping to shape the line of business strategy by anticipating technical and economic developments in the market as well as portfolio management measures.
  •  Initiating and participating in process improvements. Representation of Engineering Underwriting at internal and external events.
  • Organization, information and communication within the scope of responsibility.
  • Supporting the account manager with contact to potential customers.
  • Special tasks, e.g. project tasks or product development (wordings). 

Qualification

  • 5 years of property insurance experience.
  • Strong existing broker relationships with a concentration on the retail brokerage community.
  • Strong underwriting acumen.
  • Experience with, and strong understanding of, policy forms, including broker manuscripts.
  • Proven customer relationship experience.
  • Strong communication skills, including negotiation and presentation experience.
  • Strong collaboration and team-building skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Strong understanding of CAT peril modeling/pricing.
  • Develop and build the Engineering book of business.
  • Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships.
  • Identify and prequalify new business.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.
  • Native Spanish and good English language skills.
