SOS Children's Villages is a non-governmental organisation focused on supporting children without parental care,  that is active in over 130 countries worldwide. At the International Operations division, we manage and monitor funding for our international projects and programmes. We ensure that donations are used properly in line with our shared values, in collaboration with internal and external bodies, and provide appropriate reporting and control.
For this department, we are looking for a Finance Controller for Project Funding (m/f/d) in Munich or Berlin on a full-time basis (38.5 hours/week), starting as soon as possible.

Your responsibilities:

  • Together with our programme departments, you will review funding applications from our international partners of the SOS Children's Villages Federation. Funding agreements will be drawn up by you and submitted to our Board for approval. This is a crucial role in ensuring that donations are used to support effective projects in child and youth care, family strengthening and many other topics.
  • You will prepare the transfer of funds. You will carry out budget, report and audit controls to ensure that our funding is used for its intended purposes and earmarked donations are used appropriately.
  • In the context of a comprehensive renewal and digitalization of our funding work, you will explain, introduce and further develop new processes with our partners. To this end, you will be involved in internal projects and projects of the SOS Children's Villages Federation.
  • You will assist with our internal monitoring and reporting, such as quarterly forecasts and our yearly budgeting.
  • You will support our fundraising efforts and annual audit by preparing analyses and providing financial information.
  • Furthermore, you will support and innovate the development and proper implementation of a risk management system

Your profile:

  • Ideally, you have a degree in business administration or a comparable qualification.
  • Professional experience in financial controlling and accounting, as well as experience in the non-profit sector, is preferred.
  • You are eager to learn and interested in familiarising yourself with complex structures.
  • You can work independently and enjoy teamwork. You can distinguish when each type of work is required. You know how to navigate difficult situations and find mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Your very good English skills allow you to understand and especially to express complex subject matter with confidence. Basic knowledge of German is necessary. Preferably, you have a good command of German, both written and spoken.
  • Your Microsoft Office skills are excellent, particularly in Excel.
  • Knowledge of digital project management systems and accounting systems, such as SAP are a plus.
